Fantastic Fest 2009

I saw this film at the Fantasporto Film Festival earlier this year and immediately after the screening invited it to Fantastic Fest. A QUIET LOVE is a total-package film with an intricate, delicate intertwined storyline and deeply fleshed out characters (both leading and supporting) beautiful cinematography, judicious flourishes of magic realism and plenty of moments of wry, understated humor playing in concert with the pathos. That a freshman effort can be so confident, welldeveloped and damned entertaining gives hope to the future of cinema.
