Pygmalion may have been the first and last to successfully find lasting bliss with an artificial lover. For most others, the experiment ends in shame or disaster, or shameful disaster. "Virtual Dating" is yet another cautionary tale that warns us that nothing good can come from trying to buy pre-packaged romance in made-to-order robotic partners. Sure, most androids are bound by Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics--but the unstated Fourth Law is that something will always go wrong, and robots must inevitably run amok. And so it is in this short feature, as the heroine's sensitive new robo-stud shows that he's all man in more ways than one. A bit predictable, but in an amiably satisfying way, as our protagonist learns that the next time she's in need, she should let her fingers do the walking.
