Fantastic Fest 2009

Pretty funny, but the first 20 minutes are the most inspired. Falls a little flat, but it's loony tune logic and almost early Baz Luhrmann like approach help carry it through. Not great, but a fun time and it shows a lot of promise from its writer/director.

Pretty solid, but I think I'm suffering from creepy European village fatigue. There are some people who will be convinced this is the best movie they've ever seen but it's mostly pretty good. Very well executed with good pacing. I loved the giant monster suits but someone needs to teach them to stop, drop, and roll. Little known fact: being the product of an incestuous relationship imbues with psychic powers. Somehow being your own uncle means you get your memories, your uncle's memories, and everyone else's too!

A great middle chapter style sequel. I can't wait to see where it goes from here. This is the rare sequel that continues the story in such a way that enriches both movies. I actually liked the addition of the kids and I'm sure they're being set up to become much more important in the third film.
